Exciting Opportunity: Principal Water Resources Engineer or Hydrologist

Our client is seeking a passionate and skilled Principal Water Resources Engineer or Hydrologist to join their expanding UK and Ireland Mine Water team. This full-time, permanent position offers the chance to work from their offices Ireland. With a diverse team of experts, from recent graduates to seasoned professionals with over 30 years of experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to work on international projects and grow alongside knowledgeable colleagues.

Our client's Mine Water team contributes to all phases of the mining life cycle, from exploration to mine closure. This role focuses primarily on the mining sector, with opportunities to collaborate with other local sectors, including infrastructure and land development. The successful candidate will also have the chance to mentor junior team members, sharing their expertise and helping them develop their careers.

Key Responsibilities:

- Delivering top-notch consulting services in areas such as conceptual model development, hydrology, mine water management, and more.
- Leading and reviewing water resource aspects of international mining and water resource projects.
- Developing projects and services that support climate change resilience and adaptation.
- Managing project budgets, schedules, and plans, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
- Mentoring junior staff and fostering a culture of technical excellence and commercial awareness.
- Participating in project-based travel, both locally and internationally.

Qualifications:

- A Bachelor's degree in engineering, hydrology, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification is a plus.
- Demonstrable experience in hydrologic and hydraulic assessments and water management infrastructure design.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to write and peer review technical reports.
- Flexibility to travel and a full clean driving licence.

Desirable Skills:

- Chartered Engineer status or membership in a relevant professional body.
- Experience in the mining sector, client interaction, and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Proficiency in water resource modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, TUFLOW) and programming languages (e.g., Python).
- Experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS software.
